BODRUM MUNICIPALITY HOLDS EVENT ON WOMEN’S INVISIBLE LABOUR
30.04.2026
Bodrum Municipality’s Directorate of Women and Family Services organised a talk at the Dirmil Women’s Solidarity Centre on women’s invisible labour.
Held on Wednesday 29 April as part of the directorate’s workshop programme, the event brought together members of the Dirmil Neighbourhood Women’s Assembly, the Bodrum Women’s Collective, and local residents.
The session was led on a voluntary basis by Nermin Wood, a psychologist, behaviour and addiction therapist, who spoke about the responsibilities and challenges women face at home and in social life. The discussion explored why women’s labour often remains unseen, the importance of self-awareness, healthy family communication, and the need for clearer boundaries in parent-child relationships.
Participants also shared their own experiences, underlining that women face many similar responsibilities and pressures in daily life, whether in paid work or at home.
Following the event, Director of Women and Family Services K. Gözde Çakıroğlu said awareness-raising work for women would continue and thanked Nermin Wood for her contribution.
