PUBLIC WORKS TEAMS CONTINUE DISTRICT-WIDE INFRASTRUCTURE & ROAD IMPROVEMENTS IN BODRUM

Bodrum Municipality’s Public Works Directorate is continuing a coordinated programme of road, stormwater drainage, asphalt and pavement works across the district, moving quickly to complete surface improvements in areas where infrastructure works by other institutions have been finished.

As part of the latest works, municipal teams have completed asphalt paving by paver machine on Müderris Street, which links Bitez and Müskebi, as well as on the newly opened section of the road. Asphalt works have also been completed on Üçtepeler Street, between the new junction built by the General Directorate of Highways on Yalıkavak Road in Müskebi neighbourhood and the Bodrum Fire Department Directorate, following the construction of a stormwater drainage line. In both locations, the process is expected to be completed with kerb and pavement works followed by road markings.

Rapid Response In Areas Where Infrastructure Works Are Complete

In streets where infrastructure works by other institutions have been completed, Bodrum Municipality has accelerated its own surface works. Ground levelling has begun on Kargı Street in Yahşi neighbourhood, where MUSKİ, Aydem and Telekom have completed their works and final preparations are under way ahead of asphalt surfacing.

Concrete road works are also continuing on Piren Street and Eşşek Kuyusu Street, which connect İslamhaneleri, Bağla and Akçaalan, following works by MUSKİ and Aydem.

Careful Work in Keeping with the Historic Character of Fırkateyn Street

In Fırkateyn Street, located in the town centre, works are being carried out with particular attention to Bodrum’s historic character. Following the completion of infrastructure works by Aydem and MUSKİ, teams from the Public Works Directorate have begun installing a stormwater drainage line, one of the street’s most significant missing elements.

In line with the area’s historic fabric and under special permission granted by the relevant conservation board, the existing granite setts are being carefully lifted. Once the infrastructure works have been completed, the street will be relaid with newly designed granite setts in a manner consistent with its original character.

As part of the wider programme, asphalt paving has also been completed on the section of Dere Street in Umurca neighbourhood between Derviş Görgün Street and Artemis Street, as well as on 5200 Street in Gümüşlük neighbourhood. Surface works and related arrangements on Derviş Görgün Street are also nearing completion.

Elsewhere, teams have carried out stormwater drainage works in Küçükbük, Farilya, Peksimet and Akyarlar, while continuing patch asphalt works on roads damaged by excavation works undertaken by other institutions.

Commenting on the works, Mayor Tamer Mandalinci said the municipality remained in the field with its teams in order to address Bodrum’s infrastructure and surface improvement needs through lasting, rational and visually appropriate solutions. He added that, in every street where other institutions complete their work, the municipality moves quickly to begin its own surface works in order to minimise disruption for residents. Referring to Fırkateyn Street, he said preserving the town’s historic character while delivering work worthy of Bodrum’s identity remained a core priority.

Bodrum Municipality said maintenance, repair and renewal works across the district would continue without interruption in line with the investment programme and requests received from residents.
