ENERGY EFFICIENCY RISES AT BİTEZ MARKET SOLAR POWER PLANT
21.04.2026
The solar power plant installed by Bodrum Municipality at Bitez Market Place delivered strong performance in the first quarter of 2026, with the system’s March offset rate reaching 53.70 per cent.
Implemented under the Directorate of Climate Change and Zero Waste, the project forms part of the municipality’s wider investment in renewable energy and is helping to reduce energy costs.
Installed across a 500-square-metre roof area at Bitez Market Place, the facility consists of 190 panels, each with a capacity of 550 watts, giving the system a total installed capacity of 104.5 kWe. The plant supplies electricity for both the market place and the municipal main service building.
According to first-quarter data shared by the Directorate of Climate Change and Zero Waste, the system recorded a steady rise in production capacity in line with longer sunshine hours. The offset rate increased from 20.44 per cent in January and 33.49 per cent in February to 53.70 per cent in March.
Established to support environmentally responsible energy generation, the solar project is contributing not only to lower municipal energy costs but also directly to reducing Bodrum’s carbon footprint.
Municipal officials said renewable energy projects would continue across the district as part of efforts to expand sustainable energy use and strengthen environmental sustainability.
