GÜNDOĞAN NEIGHBOURHOOD WOMEN’S ASSEMBLY ESTABLISHED IN BODRUM

Neighbourhood women’s assemblies continue to be established under the project “Women from Bodrum Are Building an Equal and Violence-Free City”, carried forward with the slogan “The Floor Is Mine!”
At a meeting organised by Bodrum Municipality’s Directorate of Women and Family Services at the Serbay Ilıcak Sports and Cultural Complex, the Gündoğan Neighbourhood Women’s Assembly was established to strengthen women’s solidarity and support women’s participation in local decision-making.
The new assembly joins the existing women’s neighbourhood assemblies operating under the Directorate of Women and Family Services in Bitez, Ortakent, Akçaalan, İslamhaneleri, Mumcular, Peksimet, Dereköy, Yakaköy/Türkmen, Akyarlar, Kumbahçe and Dirmil. With the addition of Gündoğan, the number of women’s assemblies across the district has risen to 12, while the total across Muğla has reached 38.
The meeting, held with strong participation, was led by Umut Anıl Özdoğan, Chair of the Republican People’s Party (CHP) Bodrum District Women’s Branch and Head of the Muğla Metropolitan Municipality Women and Children Policies Unit, Figan Erozan from the Bodrum Women’s Solidarity Association, and officials from Bodrum Municipality’s Directorate of Women and Family Services. Women from Gündoğan also took part in the gathering, forming a new platform of solidarity.
To lead the assembly’s first term of activity, Esin Mumcuoğlu, Sevda Kurt, Gülten Halıcı, Asuman Saltuk and Neşe Özkaya were appointed as spokespersons.
