FORTY-YEAR TRADITION CONTINUES IN TÜRKKUYUSU NEIGHBOURHOOD

The traditional suhoor gathering held each year on Laylat al-Qadr, also known as the Night of Power, once again brought together large numbers of residents in Türkkuyusu neighbourhood.


The event, which has been held every Ramadan since 1986, took place in front of Türkkuyusu Mosque and was attended by Bodrum District Governor Ali Sırmalı, Mayor Tamer Mandalinci, senior district officials, deputy mayors, municipal council members, department directors, neighbourhood heads and many local residents.

Mayor Tamer Mandalinci said he was pleased to meet residents on this meaningful night and noted that the long-standing tradition continued to strengthen feelings of unity, togetherness and solidarity. He also thanked all those who contributed to the organisation, especially Türkkuyusu Neighbourhood Head Bahattin Aşkın.

Meanwhile, thousands of residents have gathered throughout Ramadan at iftar tables set up each day in a different neighbourhood under the coordination of the Directorate of Culture, Arts and Social Affairs. The meals were prepared by Bodrum Municipality Inc.

The iftar programme will continue on Tuesday 17 March in Kumbahçe neighbourhood, followed by the final meal of the year on Wednesday 18 March in Koyunbaba neighbourhood.
