Mayor Tamer Mandalinci has inspected the final stage of works on Bergamut Street in Bitez, where a major infrastructure and resurfacing programme is nearing completion after around four months of coordinated work.

As part of the project carried out by Bodrum Municipality’s Directorate of Public Works, hot asphalt was first laid on a 650-metre section of the street around two and a half months ago. In the latest phase, approximately 1,000 tonnes of hot asphalt were laid by paver machine along the remaining 550 metres.

The works involved not only resurfacing but also infrastructure improvements carried out in coordination by MUSKİ, Telekom, ADM and Bodrum Municipality. Pavement and kerb works are continuing and are expected to be completed by the end of next week. The renewed lighting will also give the street a more modern appearance.

Commenting on the project, Mayor Mandalinci said the completed works would make Bergamut Street safer and more comfortable for residents, adding that road improvement works across Bodrum would continue without interruption in line with municipal planning.
Mayor Mandalinci was accompanied during the inspection by Municipal Council Member Hüseyin Cem Köylü, Director of Public Works Okan Koban, and Bitez Neighbourhood Head Seda Özgüçlü.

Once the asphalt has cooled, Bergamut Street is scheduled to reopen to traffic on Monday 16 March.
