MAYOR MANDALİNCİ’S NEW YEAR MESSAGE
31.12.2025
Mayor Tamer Mandalinci has issued a message for the New Year, reflecting on the work carried out in Bodrum throughout 2025 and the Municipality’s priorities for 2026. His message is as follows:
“As we close out the year, we do so, sadly, under the shadow of a tragedy that has deeply shaken us. In Yalova, our security personnel lost their lives while on duty during an operation against a terrorist organisation, leaving a profound wound in the shared conscience of our nation. I pray for God’s mercy upon those who have fallen, and I extend my condolences and patience to their families, their colleagues-in-arms, and to our respected nation. I condemn, in the strongest terms, terrorism and every mindset that feeds it or seeks to legitimise it. Everyone must understand that no future can be built on fear and violence, and that no path leads out of darkness. In the face of these vile attempts to target our unity and solidarity, the resolve of our state and our people stands firm. Our grief is immense, but our determination and our shared stance are greater still.
With these feelings and thoughts, as we leave 2025 behind, I feel the quiet pride of having completed another year in Bodrum with solidarity, hard work and a clear sense of shared responsibility. The past year has been a year of services, projects and investments, but also a year in which we learned to stand together against difficulties, recognised our shortcomings, and set our sights on doing better. In a period shaped by challenging economic conditions and by social and environmental issues that affect us all, Bodrum’s greatest strength has once again been our sense of unity and our collective judgement. The experience we have gained since taking office has shown us that a city’s true strength is not defined only by physical investment, but also by social solidarity, a shared civic will, and a culture of producing and building together. Despite all challenges, we have continued on this path with a determined approach to governance that protects and strengthens this understanding in Bodrum.
Throughout 2025, we carried out work across many areas that strengthen urban life, from infrastructure to social services, from the environment to culture and the arts. We have pursued, with determination, our goal of protecting Bodrum’s natural, cultural and social values and carrying them into the future. Throughout this process, we listened carefully to criticism, treated suggestions as guidance, and placed transparency and participation at the heart of every step. In all our work, we regarded the protection of Bodrum’s natural, cultural, and historical heritage as a right belonging to future generations. As the administration entrusted with this city, we accepted it as a fundamental responsibility and a shared duty to build a strong link between Bodrum’s past and its future. As we enter the New Year, I wish to reaffirm that we shall continue our work with a fair, sustainable approach to local government that puts people at the centre and plans for Bodrum’s future. At a time when the responsibilities we carry together with our city continue to grow, we shall remain committed to an approach that strengthens collective judgement and addresses urban life in a holistic way. This understanding, shaped around our shared values, requires a model of governance that strengthens communication, expands solidarity, and places the protection of cities’ natural, historical and cultural heritage at its core. Our responsibility, as local authorities, is to make this approach visible in every aspect of city life, to strengthen a culture of producing together, and to ensure that people can look to the future with confidence.
The year 2026 will be a year in which we develop faster solutions to problems, reinforce a culture of shared decision-making, and raise quality of life in our city. In line with this aim, we will continue, with the same sense of responsibility, our determination to carry Bodrum towards stronger tomorrows. With these feelings and thoughts, I extend my New Year greetings, first and foremost to my fellow citizens of Bodrum, and I wish health, peace and wellbeing for our country and for all humanity. May 2026 bring health, tranquillity, and prosperity.”
