Bodrum Municipality has begun wide-ranging food safety inspections across the district following an increase in food poisoning cases reported nationally. Municipal Police (Zabıta) teams are conducting detailed checks on businesses involved in food production and sales, with a particular focus on hygiene, public health and proper storage conditions.

As part of the inspections, officers examine production processes, storage methods, expiry dates, staff hygiene and overall workplace standards. Since 2 December, 161 businesses have been inspected.

Municipal officials stated that protecting public health is a priority and that inspections will continue intensively and without interruption. The initiative aims both to ensure that businesses comply with required standards and to safeguard access to safe food for residents and visitors across Bodrum.
