Bodrum marked 24 November Teachers’ Day with a series of visits and official ceremonies honouring educators and their contributions to society.

As part of the commemorations, municipal teams visited retired teachers across several neighbourhoods, while Mayor Tamer Mandalinci personally visited schools to celebrate the day with teachers.


Retired Teachers Visited Across the Peninsula

Field Solution teams from the Municipality’s Press and Public Relations Directorate conducted home visits to retired teachers in recognition of Teachers’ Day. Beginning on Wednesday, 19 November, teams met with a total of 24 retired teachers living in Bahçelievler, Gümüşlük, Turgutreis, İslamhaneleri, Akçaalan, Yahşi, Bitez, Yalıkavak and Gündoğan.

During the visits, teams conveyed Mayor Tamer Mandalinci’s Teachers’ Day message and noted that such gestures would continue in the coming period.

Mayor Mandalinci Visits Schools

Mayor Mandalinci also visited schools to celebrate Teachers’ Day with educators, stopping at Konacık Cahit Özvezneci Primary School and Şehit Mahmut Coşkunsu Secondary School. He presented carnations inscribed with the message:

“To our valued teacher who prepares our children for the future and illuminates our path with their ideas—happy 24 November Teachers’ Day.”

Official Ceremony at Bodrum Municipality Square

The official 24 November Teachers’ Day ceremony was held by the Bodrum District Governorship at Bodrum Municipality Square. The event was attended by District Governor Ali Sırmalı, Garrison Commander Colonel Ayhan Ulutaş, Mayor Tamer Mandalinci, Chief Public Prosecutor Behçet İşlek, District Director of National Education Aslan Korkmaz, local officials, deputy mayors, municipal council members, political party and NGO representatives, veterans, students, teachers and members of the press.

Following a moment of silence and the Turkish National Anthem, the District Directorate of National Education laid a wreath at the Atatürk Monument.

Celebrations continued at Bodrum Bahçeşehir College, where the ceremony was held under the coordination of the District Directorate of National Education. Participants listened to speeches by retired teacher Meryem Sarıkaya and District Governor Ali Sırmalı. A poetry reading of “Öğretmen” and an awards ceremony followed.

Students who placed in painting, composition and poetry competitions received their awards from District Governor Ali Sırmalı, Garrison Commander Colonel Ayhan Ulutaş and Mayor Tamer Mandalinci.

The event concluded with a stage performance titled “Teachers in the Turkish Education System: Yesterday, Today, Tomorrow”, prepared by students from Mahinur Cemal Uslu Secondary School and Bodrum Bahçeşehir College, followed by a tribute to fallen teachers, choral performances of “Öğretmen Marşı” and “Mustafa’m”, a percussion show and a group photo.
