BODRUM TIGHTENS CONTROLS AS CAMERAS CAPTURE ENVIRONMENTAL OFFENDERS

More than TL 19 million in environmental fines have been issued in 2025 as inspections intensify
Bodrum Municipality has intensified its efforts to prevent environmental pollution by using a widespread camera system to identify illegal waste disposal across the district. Installed by the IT Directorate and monitored by the Senitation Services Directorate, the cameras allow rapid detection of violations.
In Türkbükü, garden waste from a residential complex was dumped beside a rubbish container after a cleaning operation. Municipal teams identified the incident on camera and reported itto the Municipal Police, who issued an official notice, referred the case to the commission and required the offenders to remove the waste themselves.
In 2025, inspections conducted by the Municipal Police and the camera network led to 2,078 administrative actionsand fines totalling 19,206,791 Turkish lira.
Authorities stated that monitoring and enforcement will continue without interruption to ensure a cleaner and healthier environment in Bodrum.
