The 102nd anniversary of the Republic of Türkiye was celebrated across Bodrum with vibrant ceremonies, a torch-lit parade and a concert that brought thousands together in unity and pride


The celebrations began on 28 October with a wreath-laying ceremony at the Atatürk Monument in Bodrum Square, attended by District Governor Ali Sırmalı, Garrison Commander Colonel Ayhan Ulutaş, Mayor Tamer Mandalinci, and other local officials, students, veterans and citizens.

On 29 October, the celebrations continued with a parade from the Old Bus Station to Bodrum Castle and an official ceremony at the Northern Moat, featuring student performances, speeches, and the award ceremony for the Republic-themed competitions. The TCSG-106 Coast Guard vessel was also opened to public visits.

A Torchlight Parade from Past to Future

In the evening, thousands of citizens joined the traditional torchlight procession, marching from Milta Marina to Bodrum Square under waves of red flags and glowing torches. The celebration continued with a communal recitation of the National Anthem and the Student Oath.

From the stage, Mayor Tamer Mandalinci addressed the crowd, saying:

“The Republic means freedom and equality. It is the hope of every woman, youth, child, and worker. As long as our lights, our flags, and our love for our country continue to shine, the Republic of Türkiye will remain eternal.”

The crowd illuminated the square with mobile phone lights as the song Parla echoed through the night, a symbolic moment of unity and pride.

Republic Joy Reaches Its Peak with Fettah Can Concert

The celebrations culminated in a special concert by Fettah Can and the Symphony Orchestra at Bodrum Square, organised by Bodrum Municipality. Thousands sang along, filling the night with music and emotion.

Mayor Mandalinci presented the artist with flowers and a Bodrum Football Club jersey, thanking him for sharing this meaningful evening with the people of Bodrum.
