The renewed agreement aims to promote healthy urban development, high-quality construction and the preservation of Bodrum’s historical, cultural and natural texture
Bodrum Municipality and the Bodrum Branch of the Chamber of Civil Engineers (İMO) have signed a Joint Technical Cooperation Protocol to strengthen collaboration in urban planning and construction quality while safeguarding the city’s cultural and environmental values.
The signing ceremony took place at the municipality’s Council Hall, attended by Mayor Tamer Mandalinci, Deputy Mayor Serkan Balkan, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mehmet Rifat Kahyaoğlu, President of the Chamber’s Muğla Branch, Secretary Emrah Uygunol, Bodrum Representative Metin Soylu and Deputy Representative Mesut Dağdelen.
Renewed Agreement for Safer, Smarter Cities
Originally signed in 2019, the cooperation protocol has been updated to reflect current technical and regulatory standards. It provides a framework for collaboration on the review and verification of project designs, structural safety and other engineering-related assessments within the municipality’s jurisdiction.
A Commitment to Sustainable Urbanism
The agreement’s main objective is to ensure that architectural, urban planning and engineering services contributing to Bodrum’s development are carried out in accordance with scientific principles, professional ethics and relevant legislation.
Through this partnership, Bodrum Municipality and the Chamber of Civil Engineers will jointly uphold their responsibilities to protect the district’s historical, cultural and natural heritage while promoting resilient and sustainable urbanisation.
Under the protocol, all construction projects requiring a building permit within the municipal boundaries will be examined to confirm compliance with public safety and quality standards set by the Chamber.
