WHEN STONES SPEAK: ARCHAEOLOGY, LITERATURE & DANCE MEET IN BODRUM

Bodrum Municipality brings archaeology, literature and dance together in an atmospheric cultural event at the historic Koyunbaba Ancient Stone Quarry. The programme, titled “When the Stones Speak at Sunset” (Güneş Batarken Taşlar Konuşuyor), marks a first for Bodrum, blending scholarly insight, storytelling and performance.


Bodrum Municipality is set to host a unique cultural event that brings together archaeology, literature and dance against the backdrop of centuries-old stones.

Organised by the Pedasa and Leleg Civilisation Research and Application Unit, the event “When the Stones Speak at Sunset” will take place on Wednesday 27 August at 19:30 in the atmospheric surroundings of the Koyunbaba Ancient Stone Quarry in Gümüşlük.

A Cultural First for Bodrum

In a first for the city, archaeologist Serap Topaloğlu will lead an interactive talk entitled “The Memory of Stones: Archaeological Whispers of Bodrum”, exploring the city’s past. The evening will continue with writer Yeşim Ağçay, who will take listeners on a journey through time with her story “Ferahfezâ”. Closing the programme, performers Gözde Angel and Çiçek Arıyürek will stage a dance piece entitled “Alef”, creating a rich artistic atmosphere among the ancient stones.

Mayor Tamer Mandalinci underlined the importance of cultural events that highlight Bodrum’s heritage:
