23.08.2025
Bodrum Municipality continues its Cultural Talks series with a lecture on Sinuri, a local Karian deity reshaped during the Hellenisation period.
Bodrum Municipality has added another event to its ongoing programme of cultural activities designed to highlight the region’s rich history and heritage. The latest instalment of the Cultural Talks series took place as an open-air summer lecture, continuing the municipality’s vision of preserving and promoting Bodrum’s cultural identity.
Organised by the Pedasa and Leleg Civilisation Research and Application Unit, the lecture featured Assoc. Prof. Hülya Bulut of Muğla Sıtkı Koçman University’s Department of Archaeology. Her presentation, entitled “Sinuri: A Local God in the Hellenisation Process of Karia”, shed light on how the cult of Sinuri, one of the local belief systems of ancient Karia, was reshaped during the region’s Hellenisation, drawing on archaeological evidence from the area.
Hosted by the Dibeklihan Cultural and Arts Centre, the event drew strong interest from the public. Attendees engaged with historical insights in an outdoor setting and expressed their appreciation for Bodrum Municipality’s ongoing efforts to preserve and share the city’s cultural heritage.
