Bodrum Mayor Tamer Mandalinci has continued his series of on-site visits across the city, meeting residents in Yalıkavak to hear their requests and suggestions first-hand.
On Thursday 21 August, accompanied by Muğla Metropolitan Municipality district service teams, deputy mayors, council members, department heads and municipal police (zabıta) officers, Mayor Mandalinci carried out a comprehensive field inspection in Yalıkavak.
Direct Engagement with Citizens
The visit began at the Yalıkavak Service Building and local municipal offices. Mayor Mandalinci then toured the current marketplace, where he met with both residents and traders. Their concerns and requests were immediately relayed to the relevant deputy mayors and unit directors for prompt follow-up.
New Marketplace Under Construction
The Mayor also inspected the new marketplace currently under construction, noting that it is scheduled for completion before the autumn rains and expected to open by the end of September. Once operational, the existing market area will undergo further improvement works. Meetings were also held with local fishmongers to discuss planned upgrades in their section once the new market opens. Inspections included the new underground car park, cold storage facilities, waste disposal units and public restrooms.
Lighting, Infrastructure & Sanitation Raised
Walking through Atatürk Square, Şeyhülislam Ömer Lütfi Street and Tahsildar İbrahim Efendi Street, Mayor Mandalinci spoke directly with shopkeepers and residents, hearing requests on lighting, infrastructure and cleanliness.
The visit concluded at Yalıkavak İskele Café, where Mayor Mandalinci continued his one-on-one discussions with citizens along the seafront.
“We Shall Continue to Be in the Field”
Mayor Mandalinci underlined the importance of direct citizen engagement:
“We continue our fieldwork without interruption to provide more accurate and solution-oriented services to our residents. Listening directly to their demands, suggestions and complaints is essential for us. Together with our deputy mayors, council members and unit directors, and in coordination with Muğla Metropolitan Municipality, we regularly go into the field. For a better and more liveable Bodrum, we will continue to be present on the ground.”
