PROTECTING PEDESTRIANS: STRICT TRAFFIC ENFORCEMENT CONTINUES ACROSS THE PENINSULA

The Municipal Traffic Police (Trafik Zabıta) teams continue inspections and enforcement in areas of high pedestrian activity that are closed to motor vehicles.

With the summer season increasing foot traffic across the peninsula, municipal teams are carrying out strict checks on motorbike and scooter riders. Drivers found violating pedestrian safety rules are subject to fines under the relevant articles of the Misdemeanours Law.

Millions in Fines for Rule Violations

In 2025, inspections resulted in penalties for 887 motorcycle riders, amounting to ₺2,619,000 in fines. In addition, 3,060 vehicles that obstructed pedestrian and vehicle movement by parking on pavements were fined a total of ₺9,036,000.

Commitment to Pedestrian Safety

These inspections aim to prevent unauthorised entry of motor vehicles into pedestrian-only areas and to ensure safe, accessible spaces for residents and visitors alike.

Bodrum Municipality confirmed that enforcement efforts will continue regularly throughout the season to strengthen pedestrian safety and protect shared public spaces.
