Field exercises and theoretical sessions are sharpening the skills of the municipality’s volunteer rescue force.

The Bodrum Municipality Light Search & Rescue Team (BAK) is maintaining its intensive training schedule as it prepares for the upcoming accreditation exam with Türkiye’s Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD).

Most recently, BAK (Bodrum’s Light Search and Rescue) members took part in a two-day basic camping course led by instructors Mehmet Demir and Enver Gümüşkar from the Muğla Provincial Directorate of Disaster and Emergency Management. The training covered essential field skills, including day and night hiking, campsite and route planning, and target location. The programme concluded with a practical examination.

Theoretical sessions were held at the Herodotus Cultural Centre, while field exercises took place in the Şeytan Deresi area of Mazıköy Neighbourhood. A total of 33 volunteer personnel from various municipal departments joined the training, led by Disaster Affairs Director and BAK Team Leader Kenan Apaydın.

The BAK team will continue its preparation for the AFAD accreditation exam without interruption, ensuring readiness for future emergency response operations.
