A SUMMER OF STORIES & COLOURS FOR BODRUM’S YOUNG ARTISTS
02.08.2025
Bodrum’s young generation is transforming their summer into a season of creativity, storytelling and art
Bodrum Municipality is providing summer courses designed to give children both an enjoyable and educational holiday experience.
Organised by the Directorate of Culture & Social Affairs, the programme is being held at Bodrum Municipality’s Yalıkavak Public Library.
A Programme to Foster Creativity and Reading Habits
With the participation of 35 children from Yalıkavak, the courses begin with themed art sessions where the children create drawings based on specific subjects. They then develop their own stories inspired by their artwork and read them aloud. The sessions conclude with a dedicated reading hour, aimed at instilling a lasting reading habit.
The courses will run throughout August. At the end of the programme, a book featuring the children’s drawings and stories will be published.
During a visit to the summer courses, Deputy Mayor Kanat Hasan Özsert remarked that the children were spending their summer productively, highlighting the significant contribution such activities make to both personal and social development.
Year-Round Library Activities
Throughout the year, Yalıkavak Public Library hosts a variety of events. These include author visits where children’s book writers meet their young readers, as well as art lessons led by professional instructors. At the conclusion of these lessons, exhibitions showcasing the students’ work are organised.
