EYES ON THE STREETS: MUNICIPAL POLICE STEP UP ENFORCEMENT WITH BODY-WORN CAMERAS

Municipal Police Continue Inspections: Undercover Municipal Officers with Body Cameras on Duty

The Municipality’s Directorate of Municipal Police (Zabıta) continues its inspections across the district without interruption throughout the summer season. Officers equipped with body cameras during their duties not only enhance transparency but also document operational processes, thereby maximising safety.

Maintaining their work meticulously across the peninsula, municipal police (zabıta) teams identify and take legal action against practices that disrupt public order, such as violations of permitted occupancy limits, touting, begging and unlicensed street trading.

Fines of 29,526 Turkish Lira Issued to 21 Businesses

In July, municipal police carried out occupancy inspections along Atatürk Street, Çarşı Neighbourhood’s Çarşı Street and Cumhuriyet Street in Kumbahçe Neighbourhood. During these inspections, a total of 21 businesses found to be in violation of pavement occupancy regulations, including seven operating in contravention of Bodrum Municipality Commission Decision No. 2025/64, were issued administrative fines totalling 29,526 Turkish Lira under Article 38, Paragraph 1 of the Misdemeanours Law.

Inspections to Continue Without Interruption

In a statement, the Directorate of Municipal Police emphasised that inspections would continue without interruption to maintain urban order and ensure the safety and well-being of residents and visitors. It was further noted that, particularly during the peak tourist season, efforts to combat unauthorised use of public spaces and environmental pollution would remain a priority.
