BODRUM MUNICIPALITY INTENSIFIES FOREST FIRE PREVENTION EFFORTS

Protecting the Green: Bodrum’s Summer Fire Safety Drive

The Municipality’s Senitation Services Directorate is stepping up cleaning operations across forested areas to minimise the risk of wildfires as temperatures rise.

The municipal teams have conducted comprehensive clean-up activities in key forest zones, removing fire hazards such as pine cones, needles and litter including glass, cardboard, packaging materials and plastics.

The works covered multiple locations, including: a 2-kilometre walking route in the Pedasa area of Konacık, the Seyir Hill vantage point along Torba’s ring road, Ali Kelle forest and Kabakum beach, a 3-kilometre stretch between Çiftlik and Etrim in Pınarlıbelen, a 1-kilometre forested corridor between Yakaköy and Dereköy.

Mayor Tamer Mandalinci emphasised the municipality’s commitment to safeguarding nature:

“The municipal teams continue their cleaning works with great care to prevent potential forest fires and to protect natural habitats. With the rising summer temperatures, our goal is to protect our environment and support a sustainable urban life. We also call on our residents to be more conscious about keeping our surroundings clean. Forests are our future  and together, we must protect them.”

Bodrum Municipality will maintain these preventive works throughout the summer season.
