12.07.2025
The first session of the 2025 Youth & Agriculture Camp, organized for the fifth year by Bodrum Municipality’s Directorate of Agricultural Services, has successfully concluded at Garaova Agricultural Park. Held in July and August, the camp welcomes participants aged 18 to 40 from both Türkiye and abroad. A total of 21 individuals took part in this year's first session.
A Full Programme: From Lavender Harvest to Theater Nights
Participants actively joined the lavender harvest, experiencing the agricultural production process firsthand. The programme also included theoretical training at the İsmail Hakkı Tonguç Agricultural School and Museum, offering insights into the foundations of sustainable farming.
Beyond agriculture, the camp provided a rich cultural experience. Local producers introduced regional products and visits were arranged to small businesses in the Karaova region. Attendees enjoyed beach time at local coves, open-air cinema screenings at the park and a live performance by Bodrum Municipality City Theater.
Excursions to iconic landmarks such as the Bodrum Ancient Theater and historic windmills allowed participants to discover the peninsula’s cultural and natural heritage. The programme concluded with a certificate ceremony led by Deputy Mayor Ercan Pehlivan, Agricultural Services Director Sinem Uyar Kuyumcu and municipal staff.
Mayor Tamer Mandalinci emphasized the importance of the camp in his statement:
“The Youth and Agriculture Camp at Garaova offers a unique opportunity for those who want to experience agriculture in the field. It reflects our goal to showcase Bodrum not just as a holiday destination, but as a hub for agro-tourism, where young people connect with sustainable farming, nature and cultural heritage.”
The second session of the 2025 Youth and Agriculture Camp will take place from July 20 to 25.
