The seventh phase of the Municipality’s long-running seabed cleanup campaign, organized under the slogan “The Sea Looks Best in Blue”, was recently carried out in Yalıkavak. Now in its 11th year, the initiative aims to protect Bodrum’s iconic blue waters and raise awareness about marine pollution.

Organized by the Municipality’s Support Services and Cleaning Affairs Department, the event brought together a volunteer diving team who collected a total of 161 kilograms of waste from the seabed. The recovered items were displayed in front of the Yalıkavak Municipal Café before being sent to the local First-Class Waste Collection Center for recycling.

Yalıkavak Neighborhood Headman Ali Çınar and several municipal staff members also took part in the cleanup. Çınar expressed his concern about marine pollution caused by human negligence, stating: “The bottles and cans removed from the sea are truly upsetting. I urge all citizens to help keep our seas clean. The sea belongs to all of us, please do not throw garbage into it. This harms everyone.”.

The cleanup initiative will continue with its eighth phase on Wednesday, July 2, along the shores of Gündoğan.
