ENVIRONMENTAL WATCH: MUNICIPAL POLICE IDENTIFIES AND FINES VIOLATORS

In a decisive move to combat environmental pollution and parking violations, Bodrum Municipality has intensified inspections, targeting intercity bus companies that discard waste irresponsibly and park outside designated areas.
Recent operations conducted by the Municipal Police (Zabıta) near Torba Junction revealed piles of improperly disposed garbage. Municipal officers examined the trash and discovered torn tickets, passenger manifests, and trip documents, allowing them to identify the responsible bus companies. Administrative fines were then issued accordingly.
In addition to littering, inspections have also focused on enforcing regulations against unauthorized parking. Buses parked outside the official municipal parking zones are first issued warnings. Repeat offenders face financial penalties.
According to municipal officials, a total of 140 administrative actions were taken in 2025 alone, resulting in ₺413,420 in fines. Authorities emphasized that these efforts will continue with determination, citing their importance for public order and environmental protection.
