MAYOR MANDALİNCİ HIGHLIGHTS PUBLIC SPACE ENCROACHMENT DURING FIELD VISIT IN GÜMBET

Mayor Tamer Mandalinci continued his on-site inspections in Gümbet neighborhood, meeting with local shopkeepers and residents to address issues and emphasize the municipality's stance on the misuse of public spaces.

Accompanied by deputy mayors, municipal department heads, officials from the Metropolitan Municipality and MUSKI (the regional water and sewerage authority), and local stakeholders, Mayor Mandalinci began his tour on Ayaz Street and proceeded through Adnan Menderes Street, Yarbay Sabri Ergün Street and Plaj Street, including side streets and beachfront areas.

Speaking with business owners and community members, Mandalinci listened to concerns and gave immediate instructions to the relevant departments to resolve urgent issues. A key point of the visit was the mayor’s firm reminder about "işgaliye", the illegal occupation or commercial use of public spaces. Mandlainci urged all business owners to remain within their permitted limits and to avoid practices that encroach upon sidewalks, streets, and shared spaces.

“We are committed to preserving Bodrum’s unique character, enhancing quality of life and protecting public spaces for everyone”, said Mayor Mandalinci. “We expect business owners to respect these boundaries, and we call on all citizens to remain vigilant and supportive in this effort.”

Mandalinci also stated that similar visits will continue in other neighborhoods, particularly as tourism activity ramps up. Following the visit, the Department of Support Services was deployed to the field to address some of the identified issues immediately.
