PRESCHOOLERS IN BODRUM EMBRACE ZERO WASTE PRACTICES

Bodrum Municipality Continues Zero Waste Education Initiatives

The Zero Waste Solutions Team from Bodrum Municipality's Department of Sanitation continues its educational initiatives, visiting local schools to teach children about sustainable practices.

Recently, the team visited Berhan Taha Bakır Preschool, engaging 50 students from the 5-year-old age group. Environmental Engineer Nilay Karamustafaoğlu led the session, emphasizing the impact of waste on both the environment and human health. The students learned crucial concepts, such as distinguishing recyclable items from waste and understanding that not all discarded items are trash. The session strongly emphasized reducing consumption as a critical step in effective waste management.

Children were also introduced to zero waste practices and informed about the municipality First-Class Waste Collection Center, which actively supports recycling and waste reduction.

At the end of the session, each child received environmentally themed coloring books, pencils, badges, bookmarks and stickers to reinforce their learning.

The municipal Department of Sanitation's Zero Waste Team plans to continue expanding awareness and education initiatives throughout the community.
