WOMEN OF KARIA: A STORY TOLD THROUGH ART & POETRY EXHIBITION OPENS

The “The Karian Women: Visual Arts & Poetry Exhibition” has opened at the Herodot Cultural & Arts Center in Bodrum. Organized by the municipality in collaboration with Labris Think Tank, Mor Art Association, MUSANDER (Muğla Art Lovers Association) and BESİAD, the exhibition features 75 artworks inspired by women, created by 60 artists.  

 

The opening ceremony was attended by prominent figures, including representatives from the Municipality, local cultural organizations and artists. The event began with opening remarks highlighting the significance of Karian women in history and their legacy of confidence and creativity. Following a poetry recital, the ribbon-cutting ceremony officially launched the exhibition. 

 

Hamdi Topçuoğlu from Labris Think Tank emphasized the resilience and innovation of Karian women, stating that their legacy continues to inspire. Mor Art Association President Semra Gönül and MUSANDER President Sadettin Özbek expressed their gratitude for the support of Bodrum and Muğla municipalities, underlining the importance of sustaining artistic promotion. BESİAD President Elvan Bilgin also shared her enthusiasm for being part of an event that honors Karian women, whose impact on history remains profound.  

 

Bodrum Municipality’s General Coordinator Emel Çakaloğlu highlighted the power of women in art and creativity, stating: “Art is one of the most powerful ways to understand the past and illuminate the future. As Bodrum Municipality, we shall continue to support art and artists.” . 

 

Following the speeches, attendees explored the exhibition, which remains open to visitors until March 17.
