ZERO TOLERANCE: BODRUM MUNICIPALITY PENALIZES IMPROPER TRASH DISPOSAL



In Bodrum, stores and shopkeepers that disregard warnings and continue to dispose of waste outside containers are now being fined.


Teams from the Bodrum Municipality's Cleaning Services and Municipal Police Departments have identified several businesses throughout Bodrum Peninsula that failed to properly manage their recyclable materials and dumped household waste outside of designated containers. Official reports were filed for these violations.

Upon further inspections, businesses that ignored previous warnings were identified and fined under the Misdemeanors Law by the Municipal Police Department. Since the beginning of August, a total of 174,832 Turkish Lira in fines has been issued to 39 businesses throughout Bodrum.

Identified Through Trash Inspections

Cleaning Services teams conducted inspections across Turgutreis, finding many containers empty while trash was piled outside. By examining the waste left outside, they were able to trace it back to specific businesses, which were then fined by the Municipal Police department under the Misdemeanors Law.

Municipal officials stated that despite verbal and written warnings, businesses that continue to carelessly dispose of their waste and create unsightly conditions will face penalties. 

The municipality will continue to conduct regular inspections and enforce regulations to kmaintain a cleaner Bodrum.
