FROM STREETS TO SHORES: MASSIVE CLEANUP EFFORT IN GÜMÜŞLÜK



A comprehensive cleanup campaign was launched across Gümüşlük District under the directive of Mayor Tamer Mandalinci, involving 100 municipal personnel and 15 vehicles from various municipal departments.


The cleanup efforts, which lasted all day, were personally attended by Gümüşlük Neighborhood Head Zeki Pay, Bodrum Municipal Council Member responsible for Gümüşlük District Faik Karakaya, Director of Cleaning Services department Serdar Kaya and the Director of Support Services Department İzzet Mert Kallem.

Coordinated by the the Municipality’s Cleaning Services Directorate, the campaign saw participation from multiple departments including Support Services, Parks and Recreation Areas, Zoning, Public Works, Veterinary Services and Culture & Social Affairs. The comprehensive effort included weed and waste removal, tree and shrub pruning, street and sidewalk washing and sweeping, maintenance and cleaning of waste containers and general cleanup in schoolyards and recreational areas.

Muğla Metropolitan Municipality Joins the Initiative

In addition to the scheduled work on designated streets and avenues, general area cleaning was carried out on the Gümüşlük, Koyunbaba and Çukurbük beaches. The Veterinary Services team not only supported the cleanup efforts but also replaced and distributed food and water bowls for stray animals in the area. Tree pruning was conducted in coordination with ADM Electric teams, while Muğla Metropolitan Municipality teams also took part by cleaning their respective areas of responsibility.

"Recycling" Notification to shopkeepers

The Cleaning Services and Zoning Directorates teams provided verbal notifications to shopkeepers and business owners along the Gümüşlük coastline, reminding them of their responsibilities regarding the proper storage and recycling of packaging waste. Additionally, renewal efforts for collection points have been initiated.

Weed removal, sweeping and washing activities in Gümüşlük’s side streets will continue for two more days.
