The final phase of the Municipality's “The Sea Deserves the Most Blue” seabed cleaning campaign for 2024 was conducted in Çiftlik Bay.
Under the slogan “The Sea Deserves the Most Blue”, the last phase of this year's seabed cleaning took place in Çiftlik Bay. The event was attended by the Municipality’s Support Services Director İzzet Mert Kallem, Çiftlik Neighborhood’s headman Hasan Kocaman, a volunteer diving team from the municipal staff, other relevant personnel and local residents.
A total of 45 kg of waste, including plastic, metal and household waste, was removed from the seabed and displayed in front of Bodrum Municipality Yalı Restaurant & Cafe – Beach. After it was shown to the public, the waste was brought to Bodrum Municipality’s 1st Class Waste Collection Center for recycling.
13 Bays Cleaned
The seabed cleaning campaign, aimed at removing marine debris and raising environmental awareness, involved weekly cleanings in different bays. Since its commencement in May, the campaign has seen divers cleaning 13 bays: Kumbahçe, Yalıkavak, Bitez, Ortakent, Akyarlar, Turgutreis, Gümüşlük, Gümbet, Gündoğan, Türkbükü, Torba, Güvercinlik and Çiftlik, removing a total of 7,436 kg of waste.
These seabed cleaning activities are planned to be conducted annually.
