PRESERVING BODRUM'S BLUE: FOURTH STAGE OF SEAFLOOR CLEANING IN ORTAKENT
Seafloor Cleanup Initiative Continues with 200 Kg Waste Extraction in Ortakent
The fourth stage of the 2024 Seafloor Cleaning, organized annually by Bodrum Municipality under the slogan "The Sea Deserves the Most Blue" took place in Ortakent.
This initiative, aimed at cleaning Bodrum's bays of waste, has been ongoing for ten years. The fourth stage of this year's effort took place at Ortakent Beach.
Organized by the Bodrum Municipality - the Directorate of Support Services & Cleaning Affairs, The "Seafloor Cleaning" event involved a volunteer diving team. Deputy Mayor Yaşar Çelikkan and relevant department heads attended on behalf of Mayor Tamer Mandalinci. Their efforts resulted in the removal of approximately 200 kilograms of waste from the sea.
Emphasizing their commitment to protecting Bodrum's blue waters, Deputy Mayor Yaşar Çelikkan stated, "We are happy to see our social responsibility efforts initiatives succeed. As Bodrum Municipality, we shall continue these and similar cleaning initiatives."
At the end of the event, the waste collected from the sea was exhibited at Ortakent Beach. The waste was then transported to the 1st Class Waste Collection Center in Konacık District for recycling.
The Seafloor Cleaning will continue on Wednesday, June 5, in Akyarlar Neighborhood.
