The workshop studies were held in coordination with the Directorate of Climate Change & Zero Waste Solutions of Bodrum Municipality, on 25-26 September.
The workshop sessions, held at the Herodot Culture Center, were attended by the Deputy Mayor Çelikkan, personnel from the Directorate of Climate Change & Zero Waste Solutions, representatives of NGOs and local chambers. Over the course of two days, with approximately 4 hours of work each day, action drafts for the Bodrum-specific Sustainable Energy and Climate Action Plan were developed, marking the beginning of the plan's writing process.
The objective of the meeting was to create a Bodrum-specific and participatory Sustainable Energy and Climate Action Plan. This meeting represented the final phase of gatherings conducted within the themes of Water Management, Disaster & Risk Reduction, Agriculture-Forestry and Other Land Use, Buildings, Transportation, Waste Management, and Urban & Land Use Planning.
Mayor Ahmet Aras had taken a significant step by signing the Covenant of Mayors for Climate and Energy, initiating the Bodrum Sustainable Energy and Climate Action Plan (SECAP) with the objective of emissions reduction and adaptation to climate change impacts in Bodrum.
Under the coordination of the Climate Change & Zero Waste Directorate and with the guidance of Dr. Zeynep Yöntem, seven thematic meetings had been held between June 20 and August 4, 2023, involving relevant governmental institutions and Bodrum Municipality's related departments at the provincial and district levels to determine recommendations for the objectives.
