A BOOK SIGNING EVENT FOR 'THE MARTYRS & VETERANS OF BODRUM' HOSTED BY THE MUNICIPALITY
In commemoration of the 100th anniversary of the Republic of Türkiye and Veterans Day on September 19th, a trip was organized for veterans and their families and a special book 'The Martyrs and Veterans of Bodrum' was prepared by the Bodrum Municipality.
Within the scope of a special trip to Ankara, organized by The Bureau of ‘Martyrs’ Relatives & Veterans Services’ of Bodrum Municipality, the Veterans paid a visit to the capital, Ankara.
Bodrum's veterans had the honor of laying a wreath at Anıtkabir, Ankara, the eternal resting place of the founder of our nation, the founding leader, Veteran Mustafa Kemal Atatürk. The Visiters showed deep interest in the Veterans reaching Anıtkabir through the ‘Aslanlı’ road.
Following the wreath-laying ceremony and a moment of silence, a special note was penned in the Official Anıtkabir Memorial Book by the veteran Kemal Berber, Deputy President of the ‘Türkiye Veterans Association Bodrum Branch’. After the ceremony, the veterans toured the museum.
Having later visited the First Parliament Building (Independence War Museum), the Second Parliament Building (Republic Museum), Museum of Anatolian Civilizations, Ankara Castle, and Mehmet Akif Ersoy House, finally went to Afyon Kocatepe, the lands where the Great Offensive began.
A SIGNING CEREMONY OF THE BOOK ‘‘BODRUM VETERANS & MARTYRS’
A book signing ceremony of the book 'Bodrum's Martyrs & Veterans,' published by Bodrum Municipality, is set to take place.
The book signing event for 'Bodrum's Martyrs and Veterans' will be held at ‘Bodrum Municipality Culture Inc. Bodrum City Museum & Archives’, located on Eski Sanat Okulu Street, Çarşı Neighborhood, on September 19th, Veterans Day, at 18:00.
The book covers the military profiles, medals, photographs, letters, memories and interviews with the relatives of the martyrs and veterans of Bodrum, who served from Admiral Turgut Reis of Bodrum, a martyr in Malta on June 23, 1565, to the Internal Security Operations of the 2000s. It was compiled by Cezmi Çoban, an officer of Bodrum City Museum & Archives.
