NINTH STAGE OF SEABED CLEAN-UP COMPLETED IN GÜNDOĞAN

The ninth stage of Bodrum Municipality’s “Blue Suits the Sea Best” seabed clean-up campaign was carried out this week in Gündoğan Bay.
Organised to draw attention to the protection of the seas and raise environmental awareness, the event was attended by Bodrum Municipal Council Member İbrahim Özten and Gündoğan Neighbourhood Head Ali İneci.
During the clean-up, carried out by Bodrum Municipality’s Volunteer Diving Team and the Green Rangers diving team, approximately 410 kilograms of waste was removed from the seabed.
The collected waste included glass and plastic bottles, metal pieces, drink cans, single-use products, fishing equipment and various household waste. A waxing machine, camping chair, vehicle tyres of different sizes and a ghost net were also among the items recovered.
The waste collected from the sea was taken to Bodrum Municipality’s Class 1 Waste Collection Centre for recycling and recovery.
Through the campaign, Bodrum Municipality aims to contribute to the protection of the marine ecosystem and increase public awareness of environmental cleanliness.
The “Blue Suits the Sea Best” seabed clean-up campaign will continue in Türkbükü Bay on Wednesday, 22 July.
