The Bodrum Municipal Public Canteen, operated by Bodrum Municipality’s public enterprise (Bodrum Belediye Inc.), has completed its first year of service, providing residents with affordable and healthy meals.

Opened on 10 February 2025 by Mayor Tamer Mandalinci, the Bodrum Municipal Public Canteen served 70,169 set meals over the past year. In addition, 827 student set meals were delivered to students. Through the “Pay-it-forward meal” (askıda yemek) scheme, 3,292 set meals purchased by benefactors were provided to residents in need.

Serving an average of 300–350 people per day, menus are prepared by specialist teams using calorie calculations. The full production process is managed by Bodrum Belediye Inc., and the canteen continues to receive positive feedback from residents for hygiene, taste and presentation.

The municipality stated that the Bodrum Municipal Public Canteen will continue operating with the aim of making affordable, balanced and healthy nutrition accessible to everyone.

A regular customer, Dilek Özal, said she was highly satisfied with the service, praising staff, cleanliness and the quality of the meals.

Mayor Mandalinci noted that the canteen is not only a place to eat but also a space where solidarity and sharing are strengthened. He said that, over the past year, the service has helped residents access affordable, healthy and filling meals, and thanked municipal staff, kitchen teams and benefactors who contributed to the suspended meal scheme, adding that the municipality will continue offering the service as part of its social-care approach.
