CURTAINS UP IN BODRUM: THEATRE SEASON LAUNCHES WITH FRESH PREMIERES: THREE PLAYS

The 2025–26 season begins with two premieres and the return of Aziz Nesin’s “Çiçu”

Following an intensive summer of rehearsals, the company is ready to welcome audiences back, with performances scheduled every Friday at 20:30.

Opening with Nesin’s “Çiçu”

The season opens on Friday 17 October with Çiçu, written by renowned satirist Aziz Nesin, directed by Cansın Türkdoğan and starring Oğulcan Çelik and Gül Yalçınkaya. First staged in March 2024, the play returns by popular demand and will set the tone for the new season.

Two Premieres in October

The following week, on 24 October, the theatre will premiere “Cambazın Cenazesi” (The Acrobat’s Funeral), a single-act comedy by Firuze Engin, again directed by Cansın Türkdoğan. Performed by Oğulcan Çelik and Sertaç Aydın, the piece draws inspiration from traditional theatre while offering sharp contemporary humour and social satire.

On 31 October, the company will present the Turkish premiere of “Bir Film Yıldızının Dilemması” (A Film Star’s Dilemma by Peter Quilter), directed by Ziba Türk Ateş. With Sertaç Aydın, Oğulcan Çelik and Cansın Türkdoğan in the cast, the play examines fame, ambition and the lengths people go to in order to preserve their place in the spotlight.
